This is my first movie for Knead the Dough! You may or may not remember a post I did last month regarding the different peelers in my kitchen drawer. This video is a demonstration of each peeler peeling an eggplant. Considering the fact it is a movie about peelers, I tried to make it as entertaining as possible.

Australian researchers discover a sixth taste: fat →
saltandfat:
Well, we certainly wouldn’t be doing our namesake justice if we passed over this story. In addition to the four everyone knows (bitter, sweet, sour, salt) and the fifth most of you know (umami), researchers are suggesting that the human palate can detect fat as a distinct taste.
The research also found that a person’s sensitivity to tasting fat appeared to correlate to weight —...

Same Blog...New Look
I decided to mix it up and change the screen layout of Knead the Dough. Yes, the last one was pretty BUT it took to long to schlep through. I appreciate you taking time out of your day to visit this site. The least I could do was make it more functional!
Keep on Spreading the Love & Kneading the Dough!

Bomb Pops of Goodness
Normally I wouldn’t offer up mommy advice. I like getting advice from women who’s children were babies a long time ago. My kid is barely 10 months old & I feel I lack the street cred essential for giving useful tips to other moms. However, I would like to advise pregnant women of all ages: Do not watch The Notebook under any circumstance!
Here’s the deal, my kid is...

Grill the Dough
I live with a pizza aficionado, not to be confused with pizza snob. From the cheapest frozen pizza to Tutta Bella, our favorite local VPN Certified Pizzeria, he is an equal opportunity pizza consumer! Needless to say we also make a lot of pizza at home. I have always loved the flavor of homemade pizza but the crust would be soggy regardless of how little sauce was used.
Lucky for...

Knead the Sanitation
If you have been keeping up with z blog, you’ll know I just posted my first recipe in Breakfast Sausage 101. Now my, socially conscience, conscience is nagging me to share some best practices for food handling.
You’ll notice the practices in this post center on proteins. Meat, poultry, dairy products, fish/shellfish/seafood, and even beans are proteins. Ready to eat foods are any...

Breakfast Sausage 101
Like Breakfast Sausage? Disappointed in the mystery meat the man is trying to pass off as breakfast sausage? Its time to go toe to toe with Jimmy Dean! Besides, you know you have a meat grinder somewhere collecting dust and if you or your Grandma don’t, consider picking one up. The grinder I use is an attachment for my stand mixer which made the purchase much easier to...

Rogaine for Green Onions
I heard if you keep green onions in H2O the tops will begin regrow. Thus you will never have to buy green onions again! I suppose this method is handy, provided you only require a few tablespoons of green onions every couple of weeks. After all, this isn’t that big of a money saving tip. At .50/bunch, you could save a whopping $26 per year! ~ Anyone picking up on the sarcasm here?

Year of the Turkey
According to the Chinese calender, this is the year of the Tiger. In our home its the year of the Turkey. Last fall, hubby purchased a chest freezer so our little family could continue to give thanks well into the new year - turkey style. I love my husband for many reasons. If I were to pick my favorite of his “icing” qualities…well, like a Boy Scout, my man is always...

Pitty?...Party of One
There are all types of walls on this crazy planet. Physically walls divide spaces into rooms to provide privacy & protection from the elements. Emotionally, walls are constructed for survival. These types of walls I don’t mind so much. After all we build them & they serve a purpose. Then there are creative walls and they, in my opinion, are the worst of them (w)all! Just when...
